Fasten Your Keyboards, and try kitedrive for your Mac!

Kitedrive™ Sync has always gone beyond simple storage. Just drag and drop a file into your desktop kitedrive folder and watch as it syncs. You see a red kite with the syncing arrows while your file syncs. When you see a blue kite with the check mark, your file is done. Just don’t blink or you might not see the red kite. Speed is a business necessity and kitedrive delivers. Now, Mac users that have the need for speed can also install kitedrive to sync everything. Just fly your kite into the applications folder, install, and enjoy the ability to sync your files with ease.

Select What You Sync on Your Mac

Kitedrive allows you to choose the files that you sync. Users can sync the files they work with the most, ensuring that the newest version is always available. This also ensures that your kitedrive is fast. You don’t want to sync everything all the time. Syncing everything over and over again leaves your computer slow and sluggish. This can also consume up to 50% of your CPU time.

Sync it. Secure it. Share it
Once your document is in your kitedrive you can access it from your iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, or Android device. It does not matter if it’s a phone or tablet, kitedrive™ always delivers.

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy – Happy Labor Day from the kitedrive team!

Falling on the first Monday of September, Labor Day is a national holiday traditionally seen as a time to relax and recognize the many hours of hard work put in by America’s workers.

But you know that at kitedrive we like to look at things from a different perspective.

This year, we want to celebrate all of you who are out there doing less work… and doing it better. To clarify: we’re not suggesting you start going kite flying instead of showing up at the office. Instead, we’re talking about being so efficient that you get everything done and still have time to fly a kite.

Here at kitedrive, we believe in making work a lot more fun and a lot less laborious. That means doing less busy work and more work that matters. Try using kitedrive to sync and share large files, instead of wasting time emailing multiple drafts to yourself or waiting for huge downloads to load. And while you’re at it, use kitedrive to help you do your remaining work even better, improving your productivity by allowing you to access your files across multiple devices, anywhere, anytime.

So this year, why not celebrate Labor Day a little differently? Take a moment to step back and think about how you can work less and do it better, the kitedrive way.

You work. So does kitedrive. Testdrive your kitedrive today with 12GB free online storage!

Ask not what your kitedrive can do for you – ask what you can do with your kitedrive.

We admit it: kitedrive can’t do your work for you. That presentation you’ve been putting off for weeks? Sorry, kitedrive won’t write it for you. What kitedrive can do though is make the creative process as painfree as possible…it’s just up to you to start.

With kitedrive, you can sync and share anything and everything you’re working on, securely. Need to read a document you started writing on your desktop computer on the train home? Sync it to your mobile device with kitedrive. Need to send ideas and edits to a coworker? Share it with kitedrive. Need to get the finished product to your boss for approval? Make sure it gets there with kitedrive’s secure file-sharing technology.

People across many different careers are using kitedrive to help them get their work done more efficiently. Teachers can use kitedrive to send a stored assignment directly from kitedrive to their student’s email addresses – and then check to see whether they’ve downloaded it. Golden Kites: A First for Kiteboarding in 2016

As we’re all glued to our TVs watching this year’s Olympics in London, some future Olympians are already gearing up for their sport’s Olympic debut in Rio. In an exciting moment for the international kiteboarding community, and this blog, the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) announced in May that kiteboarding has been voted into the 2016 Olympic program, knocking out windsurfing.

While a kiteboarder may not make the front of a Wheaties’ box anytime soon, for serious watersport fans, the ISAF’s decision made waves. Top kiteboarders were obviously thrilled, but many windsurfing enthusiasts took rejection personally. Pointing to factors such as the dangers of kiteboarding, where athletes battle to control kites at speeds of 50 knots (57 mph) while avoiding the razor sharp strings of their competitor’s kites, windsurfers have created an online petition to reverse the decision.

The controversial nature of the decision aside, for the kite lay people among us, the introduction of kiteboarding is simply a chance to learn about an exciting new watersport. Over 1.5 million already participate in kiteboarding across the globe since its introduction in the 1990s, and the number is expected to soar with new Olympic hopefuls. Kiteboarders in the Olympics will compete in “course racing,” where about 60 competitors race in a pack around a set course, moving at speeds exceeding those of windsurfers and most sailing boats.

Kiteboarding already boasts one gold standard: Rob Douglas, an American kiteboarder, became the fastest man on water last year when he hit 55.65 knots (64.04 mph). Who will be the first kiteboarder to hoist a gold medal? Team kitedrive is ready to find out in Rio.

Tilting at…Kites?

Windmills are so Don Quixote. Want to harness wind power? Think kites!

"Bird Kite" used by the Kiteboat Project

At least that’s what the people behind the Kiteboat Project believe. Their team has been on a mission to design a kite-powered boat since 2008. Their goal? Provide an alternative form of propulsion that draws on the unique advantages of kites, like a higher power to weight ratio, and access to high-altitude wind. Check out their kitedriven innovations here: http://project.kiteboat.com/

Please place your tray in the full upright position: Kite-driven Innovation

150 years after Benjamin Franklin’s kite experiment, two young brothers named Orville and Wilbur Wright also saw the creative potential in a simple toy kite, and ended up making every child’s dream of flying a reality. That’s right: we owe the birth of 3 oz. toiletries and gourmet airline delicacies to kites.

One small step for kites, one giant leap for mankind. In 1889, Wilbur realized the potential for human flight depended on greater control and built a new kind of kite using his revolutionary concept of wing warping. From this initial design, the brothers eventually created gliders capable of supporting humans. Wilbur flew 120 feet along Kitty Hawk beach on January 17, 1903, and the rest is history. Airplanes? How about glorified kites?

The Wright brothers imagined a world of newfound mobility. At kitedrive, so do we. Kitedrive allows you to synchronize files securely across a variety of mobile devices, making it possible to take your work wherever your next flight leads. In the event of a water landing, you can remain calm knowing that your files will still be retrievable on other devices.

So the next time you use kitedrive to access your files on a plane or in an airport you can thank more than one kite-driven innovation. Would you like peanuts with that?

One Dark and Stormy Night… Kite-driven Innovation

One dark and stormy night in 1750, a man and his son decided to go fly a kite. The man’s name was Benjamin Franklin and his now famous kite experiment was a landmark moment in the study of electricity.  Not only did Ben prove it is not a good idea to put your finger in the socket or multitask with a hairdryer in the bath tub, his discovery that lightning was electricity also led to the invention of life saving lightning rods for buildings.

Kites: they’re not just for breakfast anymore. Thanks to Franklin’s work, the kite can be a symbol of creativity and experimentation, not just a simple children’s toy. Likewise, kitedrive works to power innovation while at the same time making file sharing child’s play.

Kitedrive enables innovation. Wherever that next great idea strikes, whether it’s at home, on the plane, or even while scaling a church steeple like Ben, kitedrive gives you the tools to record and share it, along with the confidence that your work will remain secure.

Ben’s kite experiment? Don’t try that at home. Experimenting with the possibilities of kitedrive? Now you can try that at home. Or in the airport. Or even the office. You just might spark something new.

Physics 101: Advanced Kite Flying

“Let’s go fly a kite!” Everyone can sing it, almost everyone can do it, but does anyone actually know how it works? Luckily for you, we’ve made the physics of kite flying, well, a breeze. Kite flight depends on the balance of three forces: lift, gravity, and drag. The pressure of air moving over the kite generates lift, an upward force opposing the downward force of gravity, as well as drag, a force parallel to the wind. Master these forces and you’re off!

Like actual kites, kitedrive is all about balance. Kitedrive can help you balance life in the office, at home and on the go, providing secure mobile file sharing whenever, wherever you need it. Unlike other cloud solutions that just float around, kitedrive keeps you connected.

When is a kite not a kite? When it’s ajar! Actually, a kite wouldn’t be a kite without a string to hold on to. Like the string that keeps a high-flying kite safely in its owner’s hand, kitedrive provides security for the files you send winging into the (virtual) clouds. And unlike a real kite, kitedrive has award-winning Accellion file sharing technology, not flimsy thread, to keep your work secure.

Today’s homework assignment: find a nice windy day to put these kite-flying theories to the test – it might be harder than it sounds. Good thing kitedrive is simple in both theory and practice.
